1) Multicultural "M's"

2) Unruly Child

No offense, but I think "unruly child" is a little harsh for a two year
old
boy. My daughter is 2 1/2 and although she is pretty calm, I am sure she
wouldn't sit still in one spot and not make any noise during a sermon. (I
honestly don't know if my 11 year old son could either, but at least he
would understand the reasons for doing so and be more apt to obey LOL)

But really, remember the story of the children who were bugging the adults
when they were trying to listen to Jesus? This is not a case of "What
would
Jesus do," but "What DID Jesus do?"

Look over the story again. It will offer some great insight, I believe.

While it is important that we be concerned about the unsaved being
distracted and the saved being fed, to tell you the truth, I think anyone
who is open to the Spirit's call would hear it in a tornado!

At the same time, it does seem that the parents are being disrespectful of
your husband and God's word in allowing their child to be crawling on the
altar and running around. Does your church provide a nursery or family
room
for young children? If so, perhaps you could ask the mother to volunteer
in
it and she'll eventually feel comfortable enough to put her son in it. If
not, why not ask the child's mother or another relative to be in charge of
starting one?

The best way to deal with any problem involving children is NOT to put the
parents on the defensive and question their parenting abilities~ TRUST ME!
:o)

The best way to deal with parents is to offer some sort of compliment
about
their children/family and then seek to provide something beneficial for
them. For example, "I've noticed how lively your little boy is and I'm
sure
he's bored to death during Jim's sermon...would you like to be in charge
of
starting up a nursery and scheduling people to work in it? You might not
find enough people to take it every service, but you could start with just
Sunday mornings. It might get more people with small children into the
church and I'm sure since you're obviously right in the middle of raising
such an active little boy you would know as well as anybody what is
important to include in a nursery program!"

What a great opportunity for sharing the Gospel you have been given. Jesus
told us to go and make disciples, not invite people to come and join your
group. Therefore I would forget about the idea of getting these people
to come to your present Sunday school or Bible study and concentrate on
taking the Gospel to them in their own conference room.
 
I am not sure whether your target group is the children or their parents,
but in either case you will probably have to seriously change your normal
programs to make them so attractive that people will really want to come
to them. Even if you end up having 90 percent games or other fun
activities and only 10 percent Bible imput it will be a well worthwhile.

4) Unruly Child

Dear Ann -  At present I run a children's programme for
under fives and I was just wandering if there is a children's programme
at your church, maybe not but could be worth looking at, perhaps asking
for two helpers who would like to serve in this way, I would certainly
be available for suggestions and advice on how to get started,
curriculum etc...  Another suggestion is perhaps mum to prepare some
activities to take with her to church for her child.  Just a few

program.  Child Evangelism has great stuff for this.

6) Setting up Teen Forum?

I am one of the youth leaders at relatively small church and we are
considering putting on a teen forum this summer with several of our area
young pastors and possibly some community leaders. Our theme will be "
Bridging the Gap Between Generations," and we plan to deal with some very
pertinent and real issues such as: How to Live Holy As A Teen, Commandment
of God- v- Peer Pressure and several other important topics facing our
christian teens.
My question is, since we've never taken on a task such as this, do you
have any suggestions of how to set this forum up and it's format or any
other pertinent topics for the forum?
