1) The 1%, the Lost, and the Strays
There has been a lot of talk, lately, about the 1% versus the 99%, having to do with economic inequality, but you might be surprised to learn that Jesus had something to say about the 1% versus the 99% too!

2) July 4th Ideas?
I know that many churches have Wednesday
night programming, and since July 4th falls on a Wednesday, how does your
church (in the USA) plan to observe this holiday?

3) Pharisee at Heart
Can you resend the Pharisee at Heart email devotional? I cannot believe it is gone from my list. . . it really spoke to me, the night before receiving it I made my own rules and woke up and read the email while I was breaking them, ha!
Thanks, Sue

4) Father's
Day
For Fathers Day, we noticed that the same men were receiving the prizes for the oldest, youngest, and most children year after year. Now, when the men arrive, they are given a new name for the day. Names such as Mr. Spectacular, Mr. Handsome, Mr. Lots of Hair... you get the idea. We do the same thing for Mothers Day (of course, the ladies are named “Beautiful”, “Precious”, “Dazzling” etc). This way, each man in attendance has a chance to win a prize, whether he is a father or not (many men are fantastic father figures).
--from SSTN: sorry this posting didn't make in
in time for this year's Father's Day. But it will be available for next year
and can be found using our search engine on the home page of SundaySchoolNetwork.com,
or in our newsletter
archives, which is a goldmine of ideas!

5) July 4th--Is this Really Independence Day?
Children's Sermon:
Hello kids! Why do we
celebrate July 4th? (Listen for answers.)
Yes, Independence Day!
Does Mexico have a July
4th? (This is a joke. Of course they have July 4th. They just don't
celebrate their independence on that day.)
What does it mean to
have independence? (Listen to answers.)
When the USA
gained independence from England, we received freedom from their control.*
They no longer could tell Americans
how to live. We were free to establish our own rules and government.
Today, I want to talk to you about true freedom. The Bible tells us that we
are born prisoners to sin. (Galatians 3:22-23) We need to be set
free! The Bible says we are either slaves to sin or slaves to
righteousness. This means we either follow Jesus or we don't! The Bible
tells us that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life. (Romans 6: 23) In other words, when we sin, our paycheck is
death. We need a personal Independence Day! To get the rest of this
children's sermon, visit our Holiday
