1) Games in Sunday school?
Hi, my name is Kali.
At my church I don't teach sunday school all the time
but when it is my turn to teach the kids really seem to like to play
silent ball. they don't like to sit down and do a craft of any kind. I
don't mind them playing silent ball, but I would like to incorporate the
lesson , or the bilbe into it. I was thinking that I could have it where
when a kid catches the ball they have to answer a question about the
lesson. If they have the right answer they can stay in but if they are
wrong then they are out. Let me know if that sounds good. And if anyone
has any other ideals feel free to email me or post on SSTN.
From,
Kali Ploucher

2) New Year's Crafts or Games?
Anyone have ideas for the New Year?

3) Kids praise program
In our kids program we use a lot of Colin Buchanan songs. They are
Australian and the kids love them. They are available from his website -
do a google search, or at christian bookstores - notably Koorong. Koorong
has a website too. You need a CCLI music licence to have them in church
or reproduce the words etc. Your church may have this already as it
covers a lot of music. We used some of his latest Christmas songs in our
Christmas 'Rock and Roll' kids service and they were a huge hit.

4) Fund Raiser?
I am looking for creative ideas for fund raising. We are going to have an
expo to show the clubs we have in Missionettes. I want to have some
booths where girls are crafting and also show our badges and whatever
else.
We are doing this in March. We cannot use the St. Patricks Day theme. Any
ideas of any kind? Any help?
Thank you

Multi-aged Group
>>
Sorry it took so long to reply, I am in the middle of Grad School exams.
>>Teaching a wide age range just takes alittle planning. I usually have a
>>general lesson in mind. This year is the Old Testament. With this in
mind,
>>I have an easy colouring page for the younger set and some "funky" art
for
>>the preteens. We all start together in prayer then move to the tables.
>>Little tables for the little ones. We start with a basic lesson then on
to
>>the craft. They are all loosely based on the lesson. Once the older ones
>>are done their craft they help the little ones, this is great for
Dear Paulette,
Thank you for the encouragement your reply offered. I teach 11 children
from 2-12, one of which is my grandson. I have done what you suggested
and found that it works really well. (This is a mid-week program) I have
been told many times that it won't work and some days it doesn't seem to
because my grandson has zeroed in on the one girl his age whom he can
bug. I have decided that I am not going to give up. I do thank you for
the encouragement and pray you have a blessed New Year!

6) Hanging of the Greens
In response to the meanings of the different Christmas
decorations, our small Sunday School used the
following as our Christmas program this year. We had
our 4 oldest children (grades 4-6) take turns reading
the following, while our 6 younger children decorated
a tree with each object as it was being spoke of. The
children all sang the songs (first verse only) as a
group:
Every year we decorate our houses for Christmas. But
did you know that each of our decorations is a
reminder of the true meaning of Christmas? The tree
itself is always an evergreen or fir tree. Its
unchanging green is the second color of Christmas,
representing the unchanging promise of eternal life.
Its needles point heavenward to remind us to keep our
thoughts turned heavenward too.
The star is the heavenly sign of promise. God promised
a Savior for the world and the star was the sign of
the fulfillment of that promise on the night Jesus was
born. It still reflects the shining hope of all
mankind and the trust that God always fulfills His
promises.
(Song: Silent Night)
Red is the first color of Christmas. When we put up
our shiny bulbs and bows and other decorations red is
the most popular color. Red is deep, intense, and
vivid. It is the symbol of God’s greatest gift. Jesus
gave His life and shed His blood so we will have
eternal life.
Just as lost sheep are guided to safety by the sound
of the bell, it continues to ring today for all to be
guided to the fold, signifying that all are precious
in His eyes. We follow the true Shepherd who gave His
life for us, His sheep.
(Song: Go Tell it on the Mountain)
The glow of the candle represents how man can show his
thanks for the gift of God’s son that Christmas Eve
long ago. Jesus is the light of the world. We can do
good things and let our light shine, too. When all the
twinkle lights shine on the tree like hundreds of
bright, shining candles, each of them is like one of
God’s precious children, their light shining for all
to see.
The candy cane is a stick of hard, white candy. White
symbolizes the purity and sinless nature of Jesus, and
the red stripes represent the blood of Jesus shed so
that we can have eternal life. It is shaped like the
staff of a shepherd, used to bring lost lambs back to
the fold, just as God rescues us when we have gone
astray.
(Song: Away in the Manger)
The wreath embodies all the good things about
Christmas. It contains the colors of red and green and
the heaven turned needles of the evergreen. The bow
tells the story of good will towards all and its color
reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice. Even its very shape
is symbolic, representing eternity and the eternal
nature of Christ’s love. It is a circle without
beginning and without end.
And what would Christmas be without presents! Just as
the 3 Wise Men brought gifts in honor of Jesus’
birthday, we continue to celebrate the most important
birthday of all with presents under our trees.
(Song: Joy to the World)
(Together):
For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life.
