1) Children's songs that are upbeat
>I was wondering if you have any resources for new children songs that are

I used to sing for my grandchildren (ages 3-5 but I like them also) "Shut
the Door keep out the devil" I don't know if that is the name and I can't
give you the singer but it goes (chorus) Shut ta Door Keep outt the devil,
Light the candle every thing's alright. It is sang with a southern drawl.
Someone stole all my christian tapes.
There are quiet a few songs in the Christian rock section that would work.
Another is "The rock that does not roll" "I've got Satan under my feet"
(I can get you who sing that--my sister has it). Just a few.

2) Youth Service?
I am a CE Director, and leader of our middle school youth group. My kids
are participating in the 30 Hour Famine in February and will be having the
youth service the Sunday after. Does any one know a good resource for
finding youth services? Or other ideas regarding a service around hunger?

3) Better organization for teachers and leaders?
I have been invited to lead a workshop in a rural church with a large
number
of children. Besides the themes we decided on, there is a need for better
organization for the children's sabbath school classes. Most teachers and
leaders are young moms and they don't have much time to organize
everything
and be prepared for the classes. Do you have any ideas, suggestions or
experiences for better organization? Thank you, Ljiljana.

4) Mixed age on special week?
During the next summer my husband and I will be leading a special week in
one
resort for young christian parents. I was asked to spent 3 to 4 hours a
day with the children - and they will be mixed ages - from 1 year to 6. We
will
have a dining hall for our activities, also we have a small sports terrain
and
a possibility of using some other assets. I would like to put a spiritual
accent on the time spent with children's. Since this is a mixed group, I
would

5) No Eggs...Easter idea
My very favorite Easter lesson I've done (found the idea on the net
somewhere), was to have an Easter egg hunt with no eggs. I Told the
crucifixion story up to putting Jesus in the grave. Then I had them go
outside to hunt eggs. They came back with ALL KINDS of emotions. I then
told them that is how the women felt when they went to find Jesus in the
tomb and He wasn't there. We talked about that while someone was outside
hiding plastic eggs filled with candy. Then I said, lets really
celebrate, Jesus is alive...and they went out and had lots of fun. Can
only trick them one year though!
Another year I threw out lots of tootsie rolls for them to collect.
Then we talked about how the angel ROLLED the stone away.

Dear Beth:
I teach music in the Sunday School to a wide range of ages, and kids catch
on quickly. They still need to know the old songs, but you can spice them
up with a guitar instead of the piano, or have them use percussion
instruments. For the song "Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu, Halleluia" I get the
kids to sit and stand when the line changes, and all ages request it a
lot. We try to see how fast we can go! Sometimes we find lyrics to songs
that use the old tunes, such as Jesus Loves Me, the Flinstones, etc. They
are a blast!
The kids really love some of the contemporary Christian music that is out
there. Some of the groups are now doing kids music. I use songs from the
Integrity CD
Songs 4 Worship Kids (Awesome God)...lyrics are included but not the sheet
music. However, most of these songs can be found in the green Expanded
4th Edition of Maranatha! Music Praise. I use it a lot. Also, songs by
Paul Beloche, Lenny LeBlanc, and Rich Mullens are great with kids (such as
Awesome God). Hope this helps a little.

Depending on the age group, try some of these ( they are favorites with my
kids, have great actions, and really get the kids going in the morning)
* Father Abraham
* The Hippopotamus Song
* The Lords Army (I may never march in the infantry...)
* Big Mama Duck (Ephesians 6:1)

Children's Songs That Are Upbeat
Our Sunday school children love all the old songs but they especially love
the song "Big House". It can be found on Groups "Sing & Shout Songs for
Children's Ministry Volume 1". There is a songbook as well as an
accompaniment CD. Our children never tire of this song. Another one is

9) The Presentation Of Jesus for K-1?
Wonder if you or anyone have any craft ideas or story ideas that would
help me for my Feb. 2nd class on the Presentation of Jesus. Everything I
have found so far is much to complicated for K-1. It's Luke's Gospel
2:22-40 Mary And Joseph bringing Jesus to the temple. Or the Story of Anna
and Simeon.

10) Jesus in their hearts?
I have been wondering about this for quite awhile now, and sort of trying
to avoid directly saying it to the kids in Sunday school. I teach 6-8 year
olds, and none of them have actually asked Jesus in their hearts. Should I
tell the kids that Jesus is in their heart and that God is their Father,
even though they haven't been saved and adopted into God's family?
--from SSTN: I would say, be direct. I always go with the assumption that
there are kids in my group that HAVE and HAVE NOT accepted Jesus into
their lives. I present the opportunity often and make it clear that it is
a decision that they have to make. I pray with and for the kids and if
there is someone in the room that hasn't asked Jesus into their lives,
they are given the invitation to pray silently to receive Jesus into their
lives as their Savior and Forever Friend. ysic, sarah <><

11) Queen Esther Ideas
One year a friend was teaching the 5th and 6th grade Vacation Bible
School. The theme was heroes of the Bible. She had me come in dressed up
as Esther and tell my story. The kids did not know me and were not
expecting me so it was a fun lesson for them to see someone dressed in the
clothing of the time (well, sort of) and listen to "my" story. I was able
to make the story more exciting by being dramatic. This teacher also had
Noah's wife come in to talk with the kids as well as others.

12) Mixed Ages?
Hi my name is Myrtle, I am a follower not a leader. I am working with 2
sunday school classes. 1 is small children usually only 3 of them 1 is 7
one
is 4 one is 3 and one approx 15 months. My class has just 2 one is my
granddaughter who is 10 and another our ministers granddaughter that is
12. Do you have a way
( or a suggestion) for combining the classes and teaching them a sunday
school
lesson and a craft class usually last 45 to 55 min. I have been going to
this church for 25 years most of our young people are gone and very few
people are able to help. Mostly older people. I want to help the
children we have and hope to get
more. Any suggestions you have will we welcomed.
