1) Birthday Party for Jesus

When I was Sunday School Superintendent.  We had a party each year (2
years).
The first year.  Watched a video tape of the Church Christmas
Program.  Children enjoyed cupcakes & koolaid.  We had Happy Birthday
napkins and party hats.  This was the last Sunday in December.
The second year.  Children Played Bible Jingo (Bible Bingo).  The
children brought a $1.00 gift.  Parents and the children all played.   I
made party mix and had koolaid.   This was also the last Sunday in
December.

Hope this gives you some idea.

2) Decorating Walls

In our 6-8 year old room we went with the F.R.O.G. (fully rely on God)
theme.  We painted it very colorfully on our largest wall and put a
boarder
of colorful rainforest frogs at the top.  The kids love it and everyone
knows where the F.R.O.G. room is.  If you would like to e-mail me, I'll
send you a link to the picture on our website.

4) Halloween Sermon?

would love a story that would help the
children understand better why Christians don't celebrate Halloween.
These children are in a weekly afterschool Bible club and range in age
from 6 - 11.
Thanks, leona.

--> Amazing Miracles of the Bible

God’s glory and love are revealed through the miracles he performed and
were fully realized when he came to earth in the form of a man to save
mankind. By studying the miracles of the Bible children will gain a better
understanding of God’s love and faithfulness and how he continues to be
loving and faithful in miraculous ways to his people today. Great for
rotation-type programs!

6) 40 days of purpose

Hi,  This is in response to the 40 days of purpose
request.  We did the 40 days right after Easter, used
a main puppet who dialoged with me abou the "purpose"
with scripts and then puppets danced, music pertaining
to the theme, such as "This little light of mine" for
evangelism, etc., introducing the themes during our
first hour (kids did their curriculum and came out for
the puppet show)and during Kids Church we did the Bugs
Life with an intro and then rotation of varying
crafts, science, games, story-time, depending on the
theme for the day) with PreK-K up through 6th grade.
A big hit for all!  Let me know if I can help in any
way. A lot of work, but I think everyone liked it (I didn't
get to much of adult worship those six weeks, though!) :(

7) Odd Meals

I want to thank everyone who has responded with ideas for a "different"
dinner.   I have received so many different menus and URLs that we are
going to have to have several Odd Meals!   Thanks again!

8) Decorating Walls

Two years ago I painted the walls in my Sunday school/Awana room. I
painted the bottom of the wall green for grass, the upper wall blue for
the sky. I added clouds, sun, butterflies, an apple tree and flowers. (not
too much though)I found boy/girl shaped stencils and used them to paint
boys/girls of all colors and painted them onto the wall. It looks like
they are standing on the grass and A heart was in between each boy/girl,
like they were each holding a heart between them. I also found a great
picture of Jesus surrounded with children and added that to the wall. I
use the verse in the New Testament where Jesus says, "Let the children
come to Me." You can also write Jesus loves the children, all the children
of the world. The children love their room and they have each picked out
which one they think looks like them. The only mistake I made was using
too dark of paint for the sky and grass. My room is not very big and the
color should have been a little lighter. Hope this h
elps give you ideas.
Love in Christ,
Karla

9) Camp-In

If you don't already have it, there's a great children's song called
"Father Abraham" that my kids in children's church love to sing and do the
motions to. It's on a lot of the Bible songs cds that are out.  I'd love
to hear how the camp-in goes. My kids want me to sponsor a lock-in, but
I'm not sure I'm up to it!  NancyH

Kim,

How about haveing the kids bring a gift, set the amount around $5-$10 then
take the gifts to your local homeless shelter, spouse abuse center,
hospital, etc. What better way to celebrate Jesus birthday?
