1) Teen Games?

LOOKING FOR MORE TEEN GAMES THAT ARE EASY TO PUT TOGETHER FOR BIBLE CLASS.

--From Christiancrafters.Com: You might want to check out 'The Bookstore' for good books on teen games.

2) Harvest "Tail Gate" Party

We have done one each year for the past several years in the form of a
carnival. The hall and parking lot (weather permitting) have been set up
with various activities, games and face painting. Everyone gets a goody bag
to go home and there is always hot dogs, juice and chips to eat. It lasts
about two hours and we have had great success. My friends' church has
treats in the parking lot. Everyone brings their goodies in the trunk of
their car. They park in a circle in the parking lot with the trunk end
facing in. The kids can then go "trick or treating" at the various trunks.
It's safe, it's contained and gives all the church members an opportunity to
share a fun evening. Wendi P.

3)
Trunk n' Treat

Last year at our Harvest Party we had "Trunk n' Treat". Volunteers decorated the trunks of their cars or the backs of their vans in a fall theme. They lined up in the church parking lot and handed out candy after the kids had finished their games.

For games we divided the kids into 3 groups - Preschool through Kindergarten, 1st-3rd grades and 4th-6th grades. One group had games around an apple theme and another games around a pumpkin theme. 4th-6th love team relay games.

Does anyone have a script for a Christmas Story play suitable for 3 & 4
year-olds to perform? Thank you.

5)
10 commandments song/ideas?

I just wanted to let you know that I love your newsletter and it has been a
big help with me preparing my lessons. In the past I have taught 1 grade
religion class and this year God has given me a new challenge with 4th
graders. We will be studying and learning about the 10 commandments and I
was wondering if anyone had some interesting ideas for this lesson. Also,
our neighbors children taught my children a song about the ten commandments
and unfortunately my children have forgotten it, if anyone knows it could
you please pass it along?

Thanks
Cheryl, Iowa SS teacher

6)
Plagues of Egypt

>I am looking for a craft for the plagues of Egypt, We are short on time

I HAVE DONE MY PLAGUES CRAFT TWO WAYS. ONE AS A LITTLE BOOKLET WITH ONE PLAGUE ON A PAGE, THE OTHER AS A SHEET OF CONSTRUCTION PAPER DIVIDED INTO TEN SECTIONS. HAVE THE CHILDREN GLUE SOMETHING IN EACH SPACE TO REPRESENT THAT PLAGUE. I USED A PICTURE FOR WATER TO BLOOD. SMALL TOYS OF CATTLE AND FROGS AND FLIES. I FOUND THESE AT A PARTY STORE THAT SELLS LITTLE PRIZES IN BULK. THE FLIES COME IN PACKAGES IN SECTIONS FOR GAGS SOMETIMES. RICE FOR GNATS. POPSICLE STICKS SHAPED INTO A DOOR POST AND PAINTED WITH RED MARKER FOR BLOOD FOR THE LAST PLAGUE. STICKERS CAN ALSO BE FOUND FOR SOME OF THE PLAGUES. CUT OUT LIGHTNING AND USE WHITE GUMBALLS FOR HAIL. ON A LESS COMPLICATED BASIS, JUST DO A CRAFT OF THE LAST PLAGUE USING PIECES OF WOOD. LET THE CHILDREN PAINT THEM WITH "BLOOD". SHERRY WINTER

7) O
rnament?

I am leading a musical this Christmas that we use as a community outreach. Something we have done in the past has been to make a small craft, not necessarily the by the kids, to hand out after our show to remind people of our message. I am stumped over something for this show. We are doing Brentwood-Bensons, The 'S' Files, about a group of kids who run a website that answers biblical questions. The message is God's plan from the start, the beginning of time, to send our Messiah. I need an idea for an ornament or refrigerator magnet to hand out that is either computer oriented or Christmas or.....anything would be appreciated!

--From ChristianCrafters.Com: Make sure you check out the free patterns in the Crafters Showcase. Most specifically my Chrismon-Kids. Not only can you make easy Chrismon ornaments, but you can also make Jesse Tree ornaments which tell the Bible story from beginning to end. Stay tuned for a site update for a listing of the Jesse Tree patterns which are available in my booklet of patterns!

8)
Fixing A Hole?

Our lesson for the month of September will be "Fixing A Hole." Our
scripture will be Mark 2:2-12. (Talks about the man who was lowered
through a hole in the roof). Looking for any ideas for our 9 to 12 year
olds which would present a challenge. A beautiful lady in Christ has
agreed to fill in as a Youth Teacher until someone can be found
permanently for this age group. Class size is normally five to fifteen
or more. Any craft, game, etc. would be much appreciated on her behalf.
Thank you! Ahreita Griffin

9) Christmas Play?

I am looking for a Christmas play we did 5 or 6 years ago. It is the nativity but the speaking parts were scripture narrated from two speakers-The actors did not speak if I remember correctly and it also had suggested hyms for each scene-We loved doing the play because every child was in it-we had a huge Heavenly host and the high school youth read the scriptures and played piano and other instruments for the hymns-It was a real blessing for all of us-I would like to find it again-If I can't locate it, we can write our own from the scriptures, but it would be nice to have the play. Thanks to all of you for the wonderful ideas you share-May God bless you a lot!! Billie R.

10) B
iblical scavenger hunt

We have done several biblical scavenger hunts with our youth group during youth fellowship nights. We split the group up into groups of five or six (involve your younger children as well, they enjoy carrying items and running around too). Each group gets a bible and a paper with questions and a verse. A few examples are, 'What did the prodigal son's father put on his finger when he returned home?' (More than likely at least one girl in your group will have a ring); 'What did Lot's wife turn into when she looked back?' The list goes on and on. You can find lots of objects in the bible that will be found somewhere in your church. We have had great success with these scavenger hunts and the children remember the item much better when they search in a competition. I hope these ideas help.

--From Christiancrafters.Com-The Biblical Scavenger Hunt game may be found in a book called "Creative Ideas for Youth Social Events". You can purchase it from my Bookstore too! Just type in the title of the book into the search box, on the Bookstore's main page!
