2) Study of the Disciples
3) Model of the tabernacle
4) Advent Crafts?

6) Reading and fact-finding
7) Saint's Day Party

1) Model of the tabernacle

Our 4th and 5th grade girls made a model of the Tabernacle that was amazing.
If you would like the materials and a description of it, please e-mail me at: nan.richardson@pearlnet.com

2) Study of the Disciples

> CAN ANYONE HELP? I WOULD LIKE A STUDY OF THE DISCIPLES
> FOR 7, 8 & 9 GRADES.>>

Have the kids use a Bible concordance to look up passages for where the
disciples are mentioned in Scripture.

Questions you could ask them are:
1) What characteristics are mentioned?
2) What activities were they engaged in before they met Jesus?
3) How did they change once they encountered Jesus?
4) Is there one disciple that impressed you the most? Why?

Once the study is completed, which could take one or more weeks, have the
kids work together to write scripts of one of their favorite passages, then act
them out. The rest of the class could then have the opportunity to 'guess' which passage is being acted out. Or, perform the skits for younger classes.

3) Model of the tabernacle

> I am in the planning process for creating a model of the tabernacle.
> If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

I have some pictures of a model of the Tabernacle at:

http://www.ebibleteacher.com/passion.html

This is a full scale model. I don't think that you want to build one like
this but it might give your students some ideas of what they are trying to
portray.

4) Advent Crafts?

I'm looking for idea's on crafts for advent workshops. Have you run into
other's seeking the same thing. It is hard to find something new every year
that glorifies the Lord.
Thanks Carol

5) Christmas play idea

> I would like to put on a Christmas play but am having trouble finding
> a play that is suitable for only a few kids. If anyone has a resource
> I'd appreciate the help!

We keep our Christmas play very simple and straight from the gospel. I think we use the version from John. The core group is only 3-4 children if you use a narrator. It has worked out great for us. When we have more kids we have either more angels, shepherds, or narrators. We keep it real simple. The Mary and Joseph come to the altar when the narrators read about them coming to Bethlehem. Sometimes we have an angel announce the birth to the congregation and then shepherds walk up. If do not have enough children who want speaking parts the narrators just read. If we have lots of "speakers," each part is smaller. We do not include the three Kings as they did not actually arrive for the birth (this also eliminated parts).

We sat down as a team and inserted Carols at appropriated points in the scripture. They are sung by the whole congregation. The play is presented at the early service on Christmas Eve. It takes place as the gospel which is exactly what it is!

Since we have gone to this type of play everyone is so much more relaxed and the congregation enjoys it tremendously as do the children and the Sunday school teachers.

Yours in Christ,
Beth

6) Reading and fact-finding

I teach children's church for our 6-12 year olds and i am always looking for new ideas to try. Currently we are studying Exodus: the characters, stories, and outline of the book itself. I like to do a reading and fact-finding question and answer sheet along with a craft and game. I find the reading and question sheet help the children to
retain the facts of the lesson while the games and crafts get them excited about
learning Gods Word. I am very excited to have a site such as this to refer to.
Thanks again and may God bless you,

kim(mebane,n.c.)
