1) Communion instruction

Hi.
I am trying to put together a teaching program for sunday school children
from Kindergarten to high school  with regards to church communion.

This is certainly a worthy cause, and I encourage you in your work!  We
did the same thing about 8 years ago, but it was for younger children, as
we do a preparation for Communion class for our 2nd grade Sunday school
children. We put together a little booklet, using materials that we
ordered through the Presbyterian Publishing House.  The books we used are
"God's Family at the Table" by Virginia and Davis Thomas, "Welcoming
Children to the Lord's Table", by David Ng, "Children in the Worshiping
Community", by David Ng and Virginia Thomas, and a little booklet called
"Coming to the Lord's Table"(ISBN 0-930091-46-9), by William H. Venable.
The first 3 are so old that I can't find ISBN numbers on them.  The
booklet we wrote explains Communion in simple terms and has a certificate
of completion at the end.  The Sunday school teachers go through the
booklet with the children on the Sunday before World Communion Sunday,
and then one of our pastors comes into the classroom on World Communion
Sunday and celebrates Communion with the children and their parents
during the 9:30 Sunday school hour. The receive their booklets with
certificates, and the class has a little celebration party in the
classroom between 10:30 and 11:00.  Then, during the 11:00 worship
service, the first few pews are reserved for them, and they are
recognized as our congregation celebrates Worldwide Communion together.
Blessings,
Kit MacLeod, North Palm Beach, FL

5) Ten Commandments Poem (Finger Play)

God is one and there is no other........... (point one finger up.)
He is the lord, there is not another.........(raise hand up.)

An idol makes God number 2 ............. (Hold up one finger on each
hand.)
And second place for God won't do ......(Cross fingers.)

Three fingers keep our words in check ....(Hold up three fingers.)
Speak God's name with respect ............ (Cover and uncover mouth with
three fingers.)

Four fingers stand for arms and feet ...... (Hold up four fingers.)
Remember the Sabbath day to keep ........... (Walk four fingers on your
arm.)

God gives us parents when we're small ....(Turn palm down toward floor.)
Honor them while you grow tall .............(Raise it higher.)

Five fingers for a body ................    (Hold up five fingers
on one hand.)
One finger for a sword ................ (and one finger on the other
hand.)
Do not kill another ......................(One finger stabs into the
other five.)
Is the commandment of the lord.

God made a husband and a wife .... (Hold up two fingers on one hand,
five on the other.)
To stay together all through life ......(Lay down two fingers, facing
up, five represent                         blanket
covering them.)

Ten take away tow is eight ........... (Hold up ten fingers.  Then put
tow fingers down.)
Stealing is a sin God hates.

Your aren't 10, you're number 9 ..... (Hold up ten fingers; then put one
finger down.)
Speak the truth; you'll do jut fine.

Ten fingers pulling in, in, in ............ (Turn palms up, pulling in.)
To want, want, want can be a sin.

6) Preschool ideas?

I am a new 3-5 year old Sunday school teacher and was looking for some new
and exciting ideas to do with them. Thanks for the help.

--> Amazing Miracles of the Bible

God’s glory and love are revealed through the miracles he performed and
were fully realized when he came to earth in the form of a man to save
mankind. By studying the miracles of the Bible children will gain a better
understanding of God’s love and faithfulness and how he continues to be
loving and faithful in miraculous ways to his people today. Great for
rotation-type programs!

7) Ten Commands Song

Here is a song for the 10 commandments:
It is from a Christmas Musical titled:  Angels Unaware

The song is:
Number one, we've just begun, God should be first in your life,
number two, the idol rule, those graven images, aren't nice!

Number three, God's Name should be
never spoken in jest.

Number four, the Sabbath's for, our worship and for rest.

Number five we all should strive

8) Armor Of God Songs

This message is in response to the person looking for Armor Of God
songs...the first one that comes to mind is an older song (the words are
available on hymnsite) called Soldiers of Christ Arise. Also, back in the
archives, was a song sent in by Helen Sester (I hope I spelled that name
right), it was to the tune of Onward Christians Soldier and was about the
Armor of God, it appereared in June 2003, unfortunately, I do not have the
exact archive number, but I am sure you could find it by searching the
archives. There's also a really cute song on called Put On The Armor Of
God, I believe the lyrics were on the DLTK website. I have also hear of a
CD called The Whole Armor Of God, that has a song by the same title, but I
do not know what it sounds like, or what the lyrics are.
I hope this helps!
Love in Christ,
Sarah in California

9) Teaching WWJD?

We will soon be taking a mission trip to India and will be teaching some
young people.  One of the days we will let them make WWJD bracelets after
teaching a lesson. I had gotten the information from the Christian
crafters website but wondered if you might have any more information or
ideas on teaching about this.  We will be teaching anywhere from 100 to
350 kids.  Any information you have would be appreciated.

Thanks!
