1) Advertising Missions?
How I love this newsletter and the encouragement I receive. I am looking
for ideas for advertising Missions. We are currently praying for Morroco.
I went to perhaps do a meal, dress, etc. Any idea where I may get
information from what, where and when? Any other suggestions will be most

2) Fundraiser
Try having small groups divide up and go around the neighborhood and
announce that they will bag up the yard debris foor $5 a bag. This works
good for the older folks who do have some money and for the busy folks who
have no time but want a nice yard.another fundraiser idea is to have the
different talents of the ones who want to help for sale. For example, i
offered my neighbor $20 to teach me the basics of computer! this may be a
real boon for the teen who has computer skills! One time i paid 35 for a
sewing class! there are needs and wants out there, just do your homework,
find the market and advertise the cause-fund you are raising for. God
will bring the people and the chance to spread His love thru honest

3) Family Conference?
Our church is planning a family conference. We would like to have
workshops for the little ones as well. My intention is to split by their
grades: Pre-k 3&4 , Grade K-2, Grade 3-5, Grade 6-8. I am looking for
speakers to present. I don't want it to be a babysitting service, I want
it to be an actual "Little People" workshop. All ideas and speakers
suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

4) Lesson and activities?
Hello, This is my first time responding. I am a new sunday school
teacher.
I teach k-2. I am looking for curriculum to do with my youth. I like
activities to go along with the lesson plans. Can anyone help me.

W.W.J.S.? Gospel Catchers
There's something much worse than cooties...it's called sin! Now kids can
make Gospel Catchers rather than Cootie Catchers! A fun and innovative way
for kids to learn to share their faith with their friends! Includes 4

5) Church Auction
You might try a medium to large basket filled with jars of bean soup mix
(a jar of dried beans that the recipient can make soup from), friendship
tea (dry mix just add water), friendship coffee (dry mix just add water)
and things of this nature. "Homemade" things seem to go over real well at
our church when our ladies, youth, etc. try to raise money. Dress the
basket up with ribbon and tissue paper (I personally like to use napkins
and placemats for fillers. That way they can be used and not tossed). Have
fun with the basket and what you add to it. Next thing you know, you'll
have a BIG basket full of LOVE - which is priceless...GOOD LUCK!!

6) Fund Raising Faith Project
I once participated in a "Faith" project that brought amazing results -
not just monetarily but also with a great spiritual enhancement.
The church actually handed out $10 to those who were willing to invest
their "talents" for the Lord - just like the parable of the talents. The
church invested, by faith, in the servants of the congregation.
Each person that participated was to invest the money in something that
they did themselves on a normal basis. Not all in the church participated
- mainly those that had businesses of some sort, made crafts, sold their
own baked goods, etc. A couple of examples - a photographer invested the
$10 in film and processing for 1 client. The return was $50 dollars profit
- given back in full to the church. A mechanic invested his $10 in oil and
returned the profits from the oil change, a lady that sold home made
noodles was able to return $75 from her $10 investment! One innovative
idea was to host a garage sale with the $10 - which paid for newspaper
advertising, signs and price stickers. All of the servants' talent
generated the profit that was returned to the church. The exciting ideas
could go on and on. But the real excitement came as each individual or
family realized the talent God had given them could wisely be invested for
Christ - no matter what they did in the market place - God wanted to be
there in their midst with blessings. Some participants told clients etc,
what they were doing as they served others for the Lord, some included
salvation tracts and invitations to the church with their products.
I personally do this exercise from time to time on my own. When there is a
need at church, and it seem there is no extra cash to give - I simply
invest my time and talent - and $10 and see what the Lord would have me to
give. What wise investment would you be willing to make for the Lord?

7) Jonah ideas
There is a new, feature-length VeggieTales movie due in theaters in April
about the story of Jonah. We can't wait to see it....our oldest is named
Jonah. Maybe since you only have 2 students you could offer to take them

a treat??

8) Sunday School time
>Just wondering what time everyones class is at? Is it during Church

We have two services. One at 8:30 and the other at 10:15. Both services
have Sunday School. We start the children in church where they have a
children's sermon and hear the first hymn and the litany and then they are
dismissed to their classes. The teachers meet them in the Narthex. This
has worked out nicely for us because we had so many problems with children
coming in late. It was very disruptive. Hope this helps.

Here is a fun idea on a craft for Jonah and the whale. I don't know
where I saw this but I stored it in my mind. The person took two sheets
of
construction paper and cut a whale out of the middle. Then the took a
ziploc bag and put a little glitter and a little clear hair gel (just
enough so Janah can float around) and a cut out of jonah and put it in the
bag. Flattened it out and glued it in betwen the two peices of the
construction paper. So you had Jonah floationg around in the whales
belly. It was verry cute!

10) Sunday School time
To answer Jenny who asked "what time everyones class"? It sounds like
you belong to a small church, too. We also have the problem parents
dropping off their kids. Since we share our pastor with two other
churches, we change our church time semi-annually to accommodate another
church. Half the year we have Church at 11:00 (with Sunday School BEFORE
church). The other half the year we have church at 9:00, with Sunday
School AFTER church. Our Sunday School and church attendance doesn't
change. Parents still drop off their kids. :-(
If you've found that attendance at church or Sunday school is better when
you take the kids during the service, then , it sounds like you have a
needed ministry! Good for you!!! Could you and the other teachers get
together some afternoon or evening and have a Bible study/prayer time?
I'm a member of a small group Bible study and I find that I'm "fed" even
more during this time with my women friends than at church. It's true!
You are a better teacher when you spend time on your own Spiritual growth.

11) Jonah ideas
Peggy Gates wrote asking for "Jonah" ideas for older elementary kids.
There is an awesome Christian music CD by a group called FFH, called I
WANT TO BE LIKE YOU. If you like contemporary pop or light rock music,
you will love it! They have a song called "Big Fish" that is perfect for
your class (the right age group, too!) I used this with my 5th/6th grade
VBS class a couple years ago. Just played the song before class, or while
working on crafts. Too good a song to pass up!!

Here are some activities our church used recently in our Workshop Rotation
Model method (adapted for ages 4 through 6th grade). In Art, we had the
students make whales out of milk jugs and Jonah out of clay to put inside
the whale. In Storytelling/Music, we had students play through the
handbell song "Jonah and the Whale" by Tammy Waldrop (includes narration).
In Cooking, we had the students make whales out of cucumbers and prepare
"Can't Hide Pitas" which took the students through the story as they
create a pita sandwich they can eat. Both of these cooking activities
were in edible food craft books we had. In Bible Skills/Games, all
students enjoyed a bean bag toss through a whale's mouth as they answered
questions about the story. These activities were the application part of
the lesson. The lesson also included either reading from the Bible or
Jonah storybooks to expose the students to the Jonah story and then a
discussion time. I also found a cute drama entitled "I was once caught by
a fish this big!" on the Internet which we did not use but would be fun
for the older students.
