2) Christmas Program
In response to the person from a small church with eight children looking
for a Christmas program: Get an adult to narrate the Christmas story.
You
dress the kids up in Bible costume and have them pose behind a white sheet
with a light behind them. No speaking parts and it really doesn't matter
what size they are as long as they can stay in one position for a few
minutes. It takes some practice and marking of spots so that you get the
right shadow effect, but it is effective and easy and you only need a few
kids per scene.

3) Biblical flowers?
Hi. I teach the Jr/Sr High Sunday School class at our church. I am
wondering if there's anybody out there who has a list of the Biblical
flowers, their meanings and where they can be found in the Bible? I'd like
to use this as a seek and find lesson. Thanks

4) Singles class
In response to the singles sunday school class... I say don't seperate
them by age. The Bible admonishes us to let the older women teach the
younger and when we segregate by age group it becomes impossible. It may
be good for the younger people to see how people handle singleness as they
mature. (Especially if they are doing it well.) And a study of Biblical
singles (like Paul and so on...) may be worthwhile in showing them that
there is more to life than being married. God doesn't discourage marriage,
but He does have advice on how serving Him is easier if we are not
married. Outings for singles don't have to be "age-appropriate" all the
time either. (Nor do outings for most other groups in the church. It just
makes it so we don't have to think so hard about it.) I have seen many
groups that even co-mingle with married couples and children's groups to
do service projects ,outings , and parties. I think that as a body we tend
to seperate ourselves far too often. Let other people in the church know
that they need to include the singles in their lives too. Invite them home
for dinner, take them to a movie with you, take them to the zoo when your
family goes or to any other event that you think they would enjoy. One of
the biggest problems with being single seems to be that they don't feel
they fit in or it seems like everyone's trying to run a dating service for
them . They need family first and foremost. The other relationships will
come with time if they desire them and God blesses them.

5) Learning centers for 4 and 5 year olds

Sharla, I teach preschool through 6th grade at our church, including 2
children with emotional behavioral disorders, the way I make it work is through
learning centers, also called stations. I have adapted the centers used in Early
Childhood Education/Preschools for Sunday School, following a model called
"Storybook
Journey". I have a bathtub filled with pillows for a reading station. When appropriate to the lesson, I have a water station in the tub- we have
made baby Moses baskets and tested their sink and float ability. Other times I have a tub of sensory items and
containers inside the bath tub: sand, millet, rice, seeds. I have a nature station with a magnifying glass and sorting containers. There is a
dramatic play station with Bible time costumes and props. I have a small suitcase for our scribes of paper,
pencils, crayons, markers, color pencils, stickers, envelopes, 4x6 blank index cards, so children can write... I add a hands on science
experiment
when appropriate. There are many math activities in the form of ordering, sorting, puzzles, logic for the math
station. I have collected tons of stuff form Early Childhood sources
which work wonderfully. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have

6) Recycled things?
May HE who blessed us with the creative gift (always in order to show his
glory and His love for us (that's the best part!) Praying that you and all
the new friends will be challanged to inspire those who don't have much to
work with. I have tried to make myself think that way, as if I did not
have money but so wanted to decorate my home or make a suncatcher. i
guess this got me into the recycle frame of mind. we have sometimes been
$-challanged, and well, I have come to enjoy the stretching of imagination
to make something. I Have a good day.,a

7) Missionary Vacation Bible School

Have you thought of the following crafts For Mexico God's Eye Decoration
You need two sticks (pencils will do or cane) and lots of brightly
coloured
wool. Place the sticks together to form a cross shape.
Then wrap wool around each stick then to the next stick and around that
one.Tou keep going until you get to the end of the sticks then tie a loop
to hang it up. With older children you could use cocktail sticks and
embroidery floss. I have done this activity with boys as well as girls and
find they really enjoy it

For Africa you could make masks of varying designs
Cut an oval from card then on top glue different shaped pieces of card for
the eyes, mouth and cheecks. Then paint the whole thing using earthy
colours>
For Japan , How about Ikebana flower arrngements, where the space between
the plants, twigs, flowers etc. is as important as the plants themselves.
For Nativity Animals
Try painting or using collage on paper plates to make the faces and then
get the children to dress in appropriate coloured clothing.

11) Read the Bible in a year
There is a wonderful program used by the United Pentecostal Church
International called B.R.E.A.D., (Bible Reading Enriches Any Day) I
believe that is the correct name. You can contact the Pentecostal
Publishing House

They have both the adult version and a junior version. I have used it
personally and it is a great tool to use for reading the bible through in
a
year.
