1) Pastor vs. teacher

A married man with CHILDREN - I will have to study this one out. I know
plenty of pastors without children, and I do not remember reading this in
the Word.

ADVENT is almost here!

The word Advent means "coming". It is a time of preparation to ready our
hearts for the 'coming' of the day when we celebrate the birth of the King
of Kings. Advent begins this year on December 2, (always on the 4th Sunday
before Christmas).

KIDS CAN @ CHRISTMAS TIME is my latest craft and recipe idea booklet to prepare your family and church family for Advent. Order your copy today to receive your booklet in time! To learn more, click the link below or copy and paste it to your browser:

2) Angel Costumes

Reply : We have used old XXXL white t-shirts, and stitched silver (or
gold) tinsel strands round the neck and bottom. For wings either we don't
bother (take up too much room !) or if not too many angels, we have cut
them out of quite stiff cardboard, sprayed gold, to which we attach some
loops from elastic at arm / shoulder level. For the halo just a twist of
tinsel sat on their heads.
Hope this helps, God bless. Claire Bernatas, (Pau, SW France)

3) Children's ministry courses

>>I'm searching for any university/seminary/college that
>>are offering full time course specializing in children ministry.

Pfeiffer University in Charlotte NC offers a graduate level course in
Christian Education with a specialization in Childrenšs ministry. (I am
currently enrolled in their nontraditional program which meets one weekend
a
month) I believe they also offer several undergraduate courses as well.
Their web address is: www.pfeiffer.edu

5) 12 sons of Jacob or 12 tribes of Israel Song

> I am looking for a song to help teach the 12 sons of Jacob or the 12
> tribes of Israel.

This is sung to the tune of "Ten Little Indian Boys":
Reu-ben, Sim-e-on, Le-vi, Ju-dah,
Is-aa-char, Zeb-u-lon,
Dan and Naphtali,
Gad and Asher,
Jo-seph and Ben-ja-min

Hope this helps,
Rebecca

6) 12 sons of Jacob or the 12 tribes of Israel song

Here is a song I wrote myself to help me learn these. It goes to the tune
of the Gilligan's Island theme song. Jill Jeter, Nashville, TN

Now here is a tale of a patriarch/and Jacob was his name/but God changed
it to Israel/That's how he got his fame.

Now Israel, he had two wives/and also their two maids./He had a daughter
and twelve sons/as his father Isaac prayed.

His first wife's name was Leah/and she bore his first four sons./The first
one's name was Reuben/and the second, Simeon.

The third son's name was Levi/and Judah was the fourth./Then Rachael sent
her maid, Bilhah/and the next two sons she bore.

The fifth son came. His name was Dan./The sixth was Naphtali./Then Leah,
not to be outdone/sent in her maid, you see.

So Zilpah had the next two sons/seventh and eighth they were./The first
one's name was Gad/and the next one was Asher.

Then Leah had a couple more./The ninth was Issachar/and then the tenth was
Zebulun/and Dinah, her daughter.

Then finally Rachael had the last/two sons of Israel./Her Joseph and her
Benjamin/were eleven and twelve.

7) "The Perfect 10" song

I noticed some SSTN requests for the Perfect 10 song. (I've used it to
learn the 10 commandments as an adult--so I know it's useful!) I have it
on a hand-me-down cassette titled: Family Travel Kit Music featuring
music by Bill & Gloria Gaither, copyright 1992 by Focus on the Family.
I'm sure it's been recorded on other albums as well. I won't type out
the words because I don't have copyright permission--but they're easy to
pick up from the tape. Hope that clue helps someone locate a tape.

8) Angel costumes

Hello JM, We made angel costumes for our Christmas program from plain
white broadcloth and a simple two piece pattern purchased in a pattern
that included shepherds and all the charactors in the nativity. Look for
Simplicity 8276. These are VERY SIMPLE costume patterns! Also we used gold
lame' (a metallic fabric) from our local fabric store to make scrunchie
halos.........45" long strips X 4" folded longwise and sewn. Turn right
side out and insert a nice soft flat elastic about 22" long. join the
elastic and stitch so that it forms a circle. The scrunchie, worn around
the head just above the eyebrows, is not only adorable as a halo, but it
stays in place through an entire program! We sewed up the belts from gold
lame' also. You can also add gold lame' trim to the white gowns around the
sleeves and bottom.
The wings were simple white cardboard drawn up into wing shape by an
artistic member of our children's group, then cut out. (You may not want
to use wings in your choir because of close interaction.)
Gold glitter was sprinkled on the tops of the wing curve. A extra piece
of cardboard was glued to the space between the wings, where four holes
were punched through for the harness. The above pattern explains how to
attach the the tie to the wings.
Our angels looked really adorable. Good luck with yours!!!
Love in our Lord...........Miss Heather from Union Grove Methodist Church

9) Ideas for decorating?

I would like to have ideals for decorating our dining area for Christmas
dinner and for songs for children and adults and crowd games. How do
people deal with the issue of Santa. Our church has Santa visit the night
of the dinner.
Thanks
Sherri

10) Ideas from site

Dear Sarah, I just wanted to say, that some of the ideas I've gotten from
your site are so good, that I have even shown them to our members during
Sunday evening service. I'm so glad that I paid for the subscription
because it is worth every cent!

11) Welcome - Witness baskets

>Our church has been blessed with an opportunity to make a welcome and a

HOW ABOUT MAKING RECIPES IN A JAR. YOU CAN GET INSTRUCTIONS FOR MANY OF
THESE( FROM COOKIES TO SOUPS AND EVEN BATH SALTS) BY TYPING "GIFT JAR
RECIPES" IN THE SEARCH BOX. MY CHILDREN AND I DID THESE LAST YEAR FOR
CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR THEIR TEACHERS. VERY INEXPENSIVE AND THEY ARE
REALLY PRETTY. YOU DECORATE THE TOPS OF THE CANNING JARS WITH MATERIAL AND
RIBBON. YOU CAN ATTACH A SMALL CARD WITH A BIBLE VERSE. MY GIRLS ENJOYED
DOING THE LAYERED ONES BECAUSE THEY ARE LIKE DOING SAND ART AND I GOT A
SPECIAL BONUS OF SPENDING QUALITY TIME WITH THEM. I HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL.
IF YOU NEED HELP FINDING THESE RECIPES I WILL BE HAPPY TO HELP MY E-MAIL

12) Welcome - Witness baskets

What a great attitude to put glorifying God above getting new members! I
am sure you will be blessed for your faithfulness. Oriental Trading
Company has a craft catalog that has precut items you can put together to
make magnets, wall hangings, and all sorts of other things. Generally
they start at @$4 for a set of 12 and go up from there. They are pretty
cute. I think the website is orientaltrading.com. God bless!
