A variation on the kaleidoscope craft (good for really young kids or
really low budgets):
Give each child a toilet paper tube, some colored tissue paper, a rubber
band, and a circle of waxed paper larger than the diameter of the tube.
Have the children shred the paper (with or without scissors) into small
scraps. Dilute some white glue into a tray and let the children use
paint brushes (or a bit of sponge clipped in a clothespin) paint their
waxed paper circle with glue. Next, they cover their waxed paper circle
with the scraps (just one layer so light will pass through). Use the
rubber band to hold the circle on one end of the toilet paper tube.
Point your Tube-scope at a source of light and enjoy the colors!

You could cut circles of fabric ahead of time that are larger than the
diameter of the jar. For each jar, just use a rubber band around the jar
to hold the fabric on (with or without the cover of the jar on). You
could also spray paint all the lids in advance and let the girls decorate
them with sequins, paint, or glitter.

> I teach a Sunday School class of age 15-18. My biggest problem is getting
> them to be excited about being in Sunday School and participate.
I have the same problem with my 9th and 10th graders. This might sound
silly, but this has been helping me to get them involved. I guess its kind
of give and take on both parts. I tell them that they can bring their
contemporary Christian CD's to class. IF they participate in the lesson we
stop with about 10 minutes to spare and they are allowed to play the music
quietly and we talk about school matters, prayer request, etc during this
time. I also always bring them something to munch on ( donuts, brownies,
muffins) for some reason if they have food in their hands and mouth they
are more apt to listen to me.

I think this is a fantastic newletter with great information. I am teaching
k-6 the story of Joseph for the next two weeks. Then we will be learning the
story of Moses. If anyone has any ideas for crafts, games, etc, please let me

For the next two weeks my class will be making posters for Missions Emphasis Sunday. All classes K-12th make them and hang them in the Sanctuary on Missions Sunday.
This year our church theme is: "Make Known Among The Nations What he Has Done" from Psalm 105:1-2. Does anyone have any ideas for a good visual to depict this theme, and/or game to accompany it? (I will get the boys to brainstorm their ideas, but wanted to see if anyone in the network could offer any input.)
