He's Risen Egg Holders

Use a child-friendly Bible and the twelve He's Risen Egg Holders to tell
the Easter story. Each egg picture is numbered to correspond with its
explanation. Let your class color and cut their own set. Get the free
"Palm Branches" pattern with explanations at:

1) Milk Jug Crafts

You can find some new Milk Jug ideas on the Creative Challenge page at:

http://www.christiancrafters.com/creative_challenge.html

<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <><

2) Paper Plates

I use plain white paper plates to hold all the pieces of the craft we are
making  [one for each child]. that way they can dry on another table . We
can shift around without losing individual pieces .The child puts his name
on the plate and as he paints or assembles small parts they go on his
plate to keep them all together. I also use cotton swabs as paint brushes
or glue appliers for small pieces.

3) Want Used Curriculum

I would be interested in the used curriculum- and would like to know what
age brackets the curriculum would be for. Thank you- June Helmijiak - SST

4) The Map

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little
girl, Shelby.

She wanted to know what the United States looked like.

Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the
map of the country.

Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby, and said, "Go into the
other room and see if you can put this together This will show you our
whole country today."

After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map correctly
fitted together.

The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. "Oh,"
she said, "on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I
got
all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together."

5) Home-schooling Help

Elizabeth,
You sound like me about a year ago.  I have a daughter, age 9 now, who
tests highly ADHD.  However, she is exceptionally bright and needs very
little acedemic instruction to learn the age-appropriate lessons
considered "school."  After 1st grade, we spent a year in a play group
counseling sessons weekly, and tried Stratera, a non-stimulant medication,
and stayed with the public school.

After 2nd grade, I decided my daughter was not going to benefit from
school.  She didn't qualify for an Individual Education Plan, because her
grades were all A's, and her conduct was normally border-line
satisfactory, but they refused to consider her for gifted programs because
of her "distractability."  Any of this sound familier?

For 3rd grade, we are homeschooling.  To get started, and because I was
new at this, I chose A Beka Book curriculum.  It is comprehensive, easy to
use, not very expensive, and at the right level.  Next year we plan to use
A Beka for English & math, because VA has a list of approved curriculum
for core subjects, but I now realize what our problem is with normal
textbook learning.  It's boring.  Not for everyone, but for my daughter,
it's more of a challenge, because she absorbs it and moves on so quickly.
Next year I'm looking for a hands-on approach to science, and a
literature-based approach to history--and it's all out there, you just
have to look.

Good websites for you:
hslda.org (Homeschool Legal Defense Association)
Homeschool.com (just good information)

Overall, don't let anyone tell you that you don't know what you're doing,
or you can't homeschool an ADHD child, or that the school/county/state
knows best.  God gave YOU that child, not anyone else, and certainly not
the government.  God has a wonderful plan for you and your children.
Finding it isn't always easy, but sometimes we get it right, and you
should take the opportunity to do what you feel is best.  Contact your
state and see what's legal, and SC too.  By the way, we are also a
military family, and my husband has been activated for 2 years, and in
Iraq since last summer.  He's been gone so long I've forgotten what it's
like to just be Mom.  We have 4 children--ages 12, 9, 3, and almost 2.  I
work from home, but you can homeschool at any time of day, so even if you
work, don't give up.

Good luck, God bless.

6) Want Used Curriculum

My name is Vicki and I teach sunday school for grades 3-5 and hav a youth
group for grades k-6. I usually come up with my own curriculum, and if you
are willing to send the old curriculum to an individual, that teaches at a
small country church please let me know. I could use all the lesson help
that I could be blessed with. Right now, i get alot of information off the
internet, but to make initial copies of the lessons off ofthe library
computer gets very expensive at 15 cents a sheet. If you are willing to
send your extra material to me, and bless the children I teach, e-mail me
at quikcuts2003@yahoo.com. and I can get in touch with you. Pray about
this so that you know whether I am the one that should receive these or if
someone else should.
God Bless all!!!
Vicki

9) Home-schooling Help

> My son has ADHD/ODD he is 6 and my daugther is 4. I am trying to get info
> on a good christian cirriculum.

Elizabeth,
I am a public school teacher in South Carolina. I also have a child that
is ADHD. He is 23 now. I homeschooled him as well. I understand. I have
been in the same place you are right now.  A very wise person once told me
to have my child memorize scripture. I do not even know how to explain how
much this helped my child but it did. Educators know that memorization is
exciting to the brain but I do not believe that is the main benefit to
memorizing scripture. I also highly recommend Sonlight Curriculum. One of
the main reasons I recommend this curriculum is there are two levels. One
of the levels is for the advanced  learner. Write me at
mamasho@bellsouth.net and I will try to help.
Shoshana

11) Home-schooling help

I think your doing the right thing, and will pray for you and your son.
Homeschooling is wonderful, and you can make it as challenging as you need
to. Abecca is a great Christian curriculum, that is also very challenging.
Many Christian schools offer it as well. Hope this will help.
Amanda
