2) Mother's Day Songs

There's a great song by Steve and Annie Chapman called "Goodnight Kiss" that I've sung for Mother's Day.

3) Pastor's Appreciation Day Poem

We gathered pictures from the families in our church and made our pastor a scrapbook. We have several talented ladies in our church who undertook the scrap booking part. I wrote a poem and it was included in the front of the scrapbook. Afterwards we had an appreciation pot luck dinner. We had a special table set up with the scrapbook so everyone could see the finished book. We combined appreciation day with his anniversary in ministry.

You are given permission to use the poem if it meets your needs. God bless you as you seek to honor your Pastor. Judy

OUR PASTOR

THE LORD CALLED AND HE ANSWERED,
SAYING "LORD, FOR YOU I'LL GO
I WILL NEED YOUR HELP AND GUIDANCE
ON THIS PATH THAT YOU WILL SHOW".

HE STUDIED AND PREPARED HIMSELF,
TO SERVE WHERE HE WAS CALLED.
HE WORKED HARD FOR THE SAVIOR,
THOUGH HIS FIRST CHURCH WAS SO SMALL.

MANY SOULS CAME TO KNOW JESUS,
AS HE TOLD THEM OF THEIR SINS.
HE STAYED TRUE TO THE WORD OF GOD,
NOT BENDING TO "POPULAR" TRENDS.

AS THE CHURCH GREW IN NUMBERS,
IT BECAME KNOW FOR IT'S LOVE.
THE MANY LIVES OUR PASTOR TOUCHED,
WILL BE REVEALED IN HEAVEN ABOVE.

THROUGH MANY YEARS AND CHANGES,
HIS VISION HAS STAYED TRUE.
(Insert the name of your church) IS BLESSED.
IN HAVING A PASTOR LIKE YOU.

4) Lord's Prayer Devotional With Candles

Over a year ago I started searching for a devotional on The Lord's Prayer using various colored candles. I was delighted to receive help from the Sunday School Network and want to send the devotional along for anyone who wishes to use it. For the candle holders I used 12 Yoplait Yogurt containers which I sprayed gold. I used rice to weight down the containers and inserted the candles into the rice...the candles are very stable in this. Place one container on top of the other to make the white candle taller than the rest. I will be presenting this at our Sisters and Brothers In Christ prayer group meeting this Friday. Thank you so much for helping me find this devotional which I had lost over all the years since I was a teen...I'm now 77. If you would like a copy of the devotional, send an email to: JeanGrippin@msn.com. Make sure you title your message "Lord's Prayer Request".

5) Wednesday Family Night?

what ideas do you have for family nights that connect a spiritual theme with crafts and activities to do together? We have a strong Wednesday evening group and would like to offer something fun. but meaningful during the summer. thanks, Kathy

--from SSTN: all the Bible-4-Life series do just that: connect spiritual lessons with crafts, games and activities. Also see our "Goin' Buggie For Jesus" series in the Gospel Fun section at: http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com

And in the "Free Stuff - Sermons and Object Lessons" section also check out the Psalms Series or the Armor of God series:

6) Parent's Day

For Jackie: Each year we put on a program for the parents with each class presenting a mini program 4 - 5 minutes long. Some classes sing, some recite memory verses, some do a short skit, some show some of the craft projects they have done and explain the meaning. The parents really enjoy seeing their children presenting their mini program and get a better idea of what the other classes have been doing.

8) Pastor Appreciation

In answer to the question about ideas for Pastor Appreciation, I did a search online under "Clergy Appreciation"
and I found all kinds of unique ideas. Shelia Biggers, Evansville, Indiana

9) Pastor's Appreciation Day

We are having our Pastor's Appreciation in 3 weeks. One of the things we are doing towards the end of the day is to have the Pastor sit on a stool in the middle of the aisle, along with his wife. We will give him a lit candle. Then we will announce to the congregation that if you feel led and if the Pastor and his wife have touched and/or affected positive change in your life, take a candle from the box and go to him and light your candle from his. As they light their candles, we plan to have the lights turned down and ask them to remain standing, but please move so that everyone that desires can have a chance to do the same.

Paul

--from SSTN: what an awesome idea. I'd love to see the poem read (#3 above) while the candle lighting took place.
Wouldn't that be cool? ysic, Sarah Keith <><
