1) Easter Games

I would like to plan an Easter party for my Sunday school kids, i would
like to include their parents as well. Does any body know of any games
that we could play as a family night. Thanks, Blessings from Wpg. Carol.

--from SSTN: there's two new Easter games in the Bible Games section at
ChristianCrafters.Com

* NEW-LIFE PUPPETS - A great craft for the Resurrection Theme!

...these puppet patterns turn inside out to change from a tadpole to frog,
or a caterpillar to butterfly puppet. Easy to make and children will learn
about becoming new creatures in Christ! In our Curriculum section at:
www.ChristianCrafters.Com   * Get a free puppet skit to go with the puppets!

2) First aid kits

Here is an inexpensive first aid kit: use an empty film canister (ask
stores that process film to save them for you) and poke a hole in the lid.
Use crochet cotton, string, ribbon, etc. to make it into a necklace with
the string knotted on the inside of the lid. Large eye needles work well
for getting the string through the hole(or small crochet hook). Keep
supplies inside. To "dress them up a bit" you may use self adhesive labels
or stickers on the outside and decorate. You could also add beads or
knotting on the string. Hope this helps.

3) Question on age appropriate memorization?

As new Christian Ed director of a SS with average attendance of 45, my SS
teachers have expressed the desire for a schedule of what each age group
should know by the time they move to the next class. I found a scripture
memorization plan here but also want incorporate books of the bible, etc.
If you have age appropriate plans you would share, we would greatly
appreciate it. Deb

4) Indian's version of Psalm 23

Has anyone come across this. I am doing a program on Psalm 23, and I have
different translations. I read this Indian version somewhere?

I have seen it a number of times in the Cokesbury Curriculum. You might
contact them.God bless, Joni

5) Mansion, Harp and Crown if We 'Live Right'

I have a problem with this statement as we are ALL sinners and cannot
possibly 'live right' in order to go to heaven. What we can do is believe
and repent of our sins, God, who is faithful and just will forgive our
sins. But, by the grace of God, are we saved.

6) VBS JESUS TO THE RESCUE

I HAVE AN IDEAL FOR A CRAFT THAT WILL LAST ALL WEEK AND IT'S A KEEPSAKE.
I PURCHASED A PICTURE MOLD , A DALMATIAN DOG MOLD AND PLASTER. WE WILL
MAKE THE MOLDS AHEAD OF TIME AND EACH NIGHT OF VBS THE CHILDREN WILL DO SOMETHING TO WORK ON IT. SUCH AS PAINT IT FIRE ENGINE RED ON NIGHT ONE.
NIGHT TWO/PAINT THE DOG WHITE/BLACK/ NIGHT 3 ATTACH THE DOG/NIGHT/HAND
PAINT JESUS TO RESCUE THEME ON IT OR WHAT EVER YOU WOULD LIKE. THE LAST
NIGHT ATTACH PICTURE OF CHILD THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN IN FRONT OF THE VBS
THEME. YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE PICTURES DEVELOPED AT AN OVERNIGHT SHOP . IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEALS TO ADD TO THIS LET ME KNOW. SHERRI

7) Ideas to motivate our people to invite others?

I want to have a big Sunday school day 4weeks from now. We're calling it
"Super Sunday School Sunday. We're a small inter-city congregation, we
average 8 adults and about 15 children a sunday. I'm trying get fifty
people in Sunday School on Super Sunday School Sunday. I need some ideas
that will motivate our people to invite others to sunday school, what do
you think? Gregg

8) Class rooms

New Hope Luthern Church is also without a building. Living in Las Vegas it
is basically the norm, a new Church begins and we wait for a building. We
have been having our Sunday School classes in the High School hallways,
they have tries to give be tables and chairs, but not way The children and
I enjoy sitting on the floor in a circle, taking our shoes off and
enjoying our lessons. Sometimes we even go outside. This time brings be
back to the memories of by Sunday School classes so long ago. I have 10-12
3rd-5th graders and have never enjoyed myself more.
Love and God Bless, Jennine Minervini-New Hope-Las Vegas, Nv

9) Indian's version of Psalm 23

I was given this version several years ago while visiting Arizona. Hope it
is what you are looking for. Lorraine

The Great Father above a Shepherd Chief is, I am His and with Him I want
not. He throws out to me a rope and the name of the rope is love and He
draws me to where the grass is green and the water not dangerous, and I
eat and lie down and am satisfied. Sometimes my heart is very weak and
falls down but he lifts me up again and draws me into a good road. His
name is wonderful.

Sometime, it may be very soon, it may be a long, long time, He will draw
me into a valley. It is dark there, but I'll be afraid not, for it is in
between those mountains that the Shepherd Chief will meet me and the
hunger that I have in my heart all through this life will be satisfied.

Sometimes He makes the love rope into a whip, but afterwards He gives me a
staff to lean upon. He spreads a table before me with all kinds of foods.
He puts His hand upon my head and all the "tired" is gone. My cup fills
till it runs over. What I tell is true. I lie not. These roads that are
"away ahead" will stay with me through this life and after, and afterwards
when I go to live in the big teepee and sit with the Shepherd Chief
forever.

11) Music Motivation?

I am one of the new Sunday School Superintendents at our church. Our
Sunday School kids have not been singing any songs for the last 2 years.
Now, we are having a difficult time in motivating them to want to learn
songs. There are so many wonderful Christian songs out there which I
learned as a kid. I want to be able to share those same songs with our
students, but they’re not interested. Any ideas, especially for 5th grade
to high school, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cindy T., Living
Waters Lutheran, Flemington, NJ

--from SSTN: Cindy, our church has also been in Music transition... one
thing that is extremely important is to use age appropriate, "cool
sounding" music. Unfortunately...many of the songs WE sang as kids are not
"cool". The good news is that there are some REALLY great new tunes that
have wonderful Bible messages. Groups Singable Songs are great for grades
K-6. But for the older kids, I would suggest a more mature sound from some
of our contemporary Christian praise artists. If you have someone that's
in your church that can play a guitar, maybe they can do 'sign along'
songs with the older aged kids. YSIC, Sarah - your moderator. <><

12) Recruiting teachers/promoting Sunday School

>I am looking for ideas for recruiting Sunday School teachers and also for
>promoting Sunday School. I am on the Christian Education Committee

We always begin our recruiting with asking the prospects if they would
commit to pray for a period of time if God is calling them to Children's
Ministry - 2-3 weeks. It's rare that someone says, "No, I won't pray."
If they agree to pray, we send them a letter thanking them and then give
them a process to pray through. We also send them what the commitment
would be so they can pray intelligently. We make a 2nd call and ask what
they think God wants them to do. It's been amazing the reports we get
back that some were ready to say "No" because it wasn't their desire but
when they ask God, He tells them "Yes" ! We do serve a GREAT God and when
their commitment is to Him and not Children's Ministry alone, there is a
greater retention of our teachers and more spiritual growth in them
as well. Marcia Hill Austin, TX
