2) Creating A Foundation?

I am looking for ideas on teaching our children's church about having a
strong foundation for God. I would appreciate any ideas that anyone has
for this. I want to use the idea of Survivor, but have it as a timeline of
the bible and what is in the bible. My childrens age ranges form 2 year
olds to 12 year olds, however we can take the 2 year olds to 5 year olds
in a smaller setting to teach them using puppets.  If you know of any
sites or programs that can help please e-mail me at anya58@sbcglobal.net
Thank you and I love this site.
Annette

--from SSTN: please remember, if you share off-network, the other teaches
do not benefit. Please share your knowledge. ALSO, check the Survivor
lesson at:

4) Three Strand Cord / New Year's Lesson

I am sending a reply to connie about a new years lesson for youth.

Connie,
I just did a really neat lesson with my kids and they really enjoyed it.
I had them read Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 or verse 9-12.
Discuss how God is the very core of our life and has no meaning with out
him. I have them take one peice of string, (yarn) and have them try to
break it. They can easily. Then I give them 3 strands and have them braid
it. After they braid it, have them try to break it. This will show them
that 2 is better than one .
You can talk about how they can start their new year with God in their
lives. I remind them that I am here for them when ever they need someone,
but most of all God is here for them too.
I tied this lesson in with the lesson on Christian crafters by sarah Keith
about Epiphany: What will you bring. It went well together and is
a good way to start out the new year.

Kim
ps. If you would like the lesson about the string I can mail a copy to
you or fax it. let me know.

6) New Testament song?

I am trying to get my Sunday school class to learn the books of THE NEW
TESTAMENT. I have given them a challenge on this for a prize. The prize
will go to those who memorize these for the challenge.
I can't remember the song that helps children remember and say the books
of the NEW TESTAMENT. Please send me the words to this song.

7) Gospel Clowning

> I would love to hear from other clowns and
> illusionists or anyone who would like to get started in this area.

Gospel illusions are object lessons with a special effect, and can be very
powerful tools in helping children understand and remember spiritual
truths. You can purchase many effective illusions from Christian
organisations like Children's Ministry Today or One Way Street, but many
others can be performed at little or no cost - especially those involving
ropes or paper cutting.

I have published 54 object lessons on
http://mauricesweetsur.blogspot.com/ , about half of which I would
describe as illusions. Check them out.

8) Bible Song / Rhyme

Sarah Smithard, North Wales, Great Britain Here is a clip from a previous
SSTN newletter from Michelle:I (through this website a few years ago)
found this website.... http://www.ebibleteacher.com/    Go there on  the
left you'll find Sunday School Children and then after you select that
you'll see Songs (on the left). There are 2 songs for the books of the
Bible.   The Old Testament is to the tune of Ten Little Indiansl.   My
kids have had fun learning the books and have no problem reciting them
because of these songs.Hope this helps!   Michelle

9) Colors of Christ cross

Hi!  I just wanted to share with you something that I did based on the
Colors of Christ activity from your website.

I am a big scrapbooker, and one of the projects I'm working on right now
is a faith album with different Bible verses that I like, song lyrics that
have inspired me, and some of my own faith stories.  While brainstorming
ideas for my next album (the first one I did is full), I suddenly thought
of the Colors of Christ cross.  The colors and their meanings, along with
the Bible verses that are listed, inspired a 2-page layout idea using
colored cardstock and coordinating stickers.  I haven't had time to do the
actual layout yet, but I have a pretty good idea already of what I want it
to look like!  Thanks so much for the great work you do on the site!

Blessings,
Jennifer Koss

PS.  I did a Colors of Christ activity in my Sunday School class last
year.  Instead of bead crosses though, we used embroidery thread and made
friendship-type bracelets.  The kids really enjoyed it.

10) Death and dying book

Just to offer---for children wondering about this
subject, I have found the story "I Wonder Where They
Go" to be very helpful.  I believe it is by Child
Evangelism.  Hope that this will be helpful.

11) Children & grief

For the subscriber who was asking about information on Children & grief, I
worked for many years with Hospice, a wonderful organization that helps
people with the transition of earthly life to life everlasting.  The
reader
would find a great deal of info and help from her local Hospice program,
you can find them in the yellow pages, or put Hospice in your search
engine. Most organizations have grief counselors and/or social workers who
will have a wealth of information.  Hope this helps!
Ann
