1) Music & Scripture Tapes

Just thought I'd let you know that the Glad Tidings tapes which set scripture to
music are still available through this e-mail address: gthalo@webscribe.org
We are using two of the songs for Christmas - Isaiah 9:6 and John 20:31.
They are great and still current. Each song stands alone! You can use them
throughout your S.S. or Club programs. They are upbeat and wonderful for
memorizing scripture.

2) Angel crafts

I teach 5th and 6th grade Sunday School and want to make angel crafts with the children, at the end of each lesson, we only have about 15 minutes, so they need to be quick and easy. Last Sunday was the first angel craft and we made them using bow tie spaghetti and candy kisses. While we are working on the craft we talk about how angels serve God and how we can serve others and be "angels" for God by serving. This Sunday we will be making angels using seashells (the flat ones) for the body, a pom pom for the head, and wire garland for the wings. The next week will be angels made from paper doilies folded in half and painted lightly with glitter type paint, to form the body, with a foam circle for the head, a small piece of wired garland for a halo and some craft curls for hair. I have a couple of other patterns that are simple, one using yarn and another using bow tie spaghetti but I would like be able to make an angel every week up to Christmas and then let them take them home to put on their Christmas trees. I hope that by letting them know we will be making an angel weekly it will help keep them coming on a regular basis. Any patterns or ideas would be greatly appreciated. In order to make the crafts quick and easy I am doing the painting before class so everything is dry, I also bring any supplies precut and in a case with individual spots for easy distribution. I should also mention that I am trying to keep costs to a minimum, however I do have alot of craft supplies already and am willing to use them. I have a large amount of white netting that I would like to try to use for the angel crafts
also. I have received many good ideas from ChristianCrafters.Com already and thank you in advance for any ideas you can send my way. God Bless-Terri from Wisconsin

4) Non competitive games

> My job is to lead all of the kids, ages 5-12, in non competitive games...

Hi, I have a great book that Maggie could use for non-competitive game ideas.
It's called "Play It!" by Wayne Rice and Mike Yaconelli of Youth Specialties.
There are over 400 games that are designed to include everyone, regardless of
skill. Even though the games are geared toward teens, I think you'll be able
to use a lot of them. There are indoor and outdoor games, games for small and large groups, and quiet games. I hope this is helpful. Peggy 5th/6th grade Sunday School teacher, Phx, AZ

6) Pokemon, why it's wrong

I DO NOT REMEMBER THE PASTORS NAME BUT A LOCAL CHRISTIAN RADIO STATION HAD A DISCUSSION ON THIS ISSUE. THE PASTOR HAD A SON WHO BECAME INFATUATED WITH POKEMON.HE SEEN A CHANGE IN HIS SONS ATTITUDE AND BEHAVOIR. HE DECIDED TO RESEARCH THIS NEW FADE AND FOUND OUT THAT MILTON BRADELY WHO I BELIEVE IS THE POKEMON MANUFACTURER BOUGHT THE RIGHTS TO IT FROM A MALE WITCH.THIS GAME WAS PLAYED BY WITCHES FOR MANY CENTURIES AND PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. MILTON BRADLEY THEN TOOK THE GAME SUGAR COATED IT UP AND PROMOTED IT FOR CHILDREN. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE PASTOR CLEARED HIS HOUSE OF ALL POKEMON AND HE SEEN A TURN AROUND IN HIS SON . THERE ARE SOME CHRISTIAN WEBSITES THAT GO INTO MORE DETAIL TRY SEARCHING THE CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING NETWORK OR TBN.COM I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME -- KIM COLE N.C.

7) Teaching Children 3-10

>
I help teach the younger children. Our church is very small so we combined the
> children, ages 3 to 10. We have a problem keeping them all occupied and busy.

I teach Children's Church to children ages 3 to 10. I have three different books to teach out of, so while I have the youngest ones coloring, I am helping the older groups with their work. Before the story time, I have four of the older children do a "puppet show" for the younger ones. They really enjoy this and it takes up some of their color time. So far it is working out great. (I have anywhere from 8 to 14 children.) Hope this helps out.
Denise, Hickory Grove Baptist (Coushatta, LA)

--from ChristianCrafters.Com: Ideally it is best to separate children according to age groups/grades. But as we all know, this isn't always possible. I do want to tell everyone that the Archives have much to say regarding multi-age classes. Read through it for added tips and resources! Blessings! Sarah Keith-Your Moderator.
