1) Need Help
Dear I need help.
My mom was a youth leader as well and struggled with many of the same
things, she always confronted her teens about the situation truthfully and
would offer to go with them to tell their parents. She was there for
everything from I am pregnant to I have aids. It is hard but my mother
always felt that secrets from parents are not good. It puts you in a very
difficult position and all I can say was when the tables were turned on my
mother and one of her three girls were in trouble there were many people
there helping us share our problems with our parents out of respect for
what my mother did. I remember as a teen I just needed somebody to go with
me to help me share my hard news with my parents. I will pray you find a

2) Christmas Gift Ideas?
I am looking for a Christmas Gift idea to give to my kids in Superchurch
grades 1-5th grades for boys and girls that won't cost too much. I also
want the kids to make something for their parents. Any ideas besides

3) Frog Puppet Skits
This message is in response to the person who was looking for frog puppet
skits. If you visit http://www.puppetresources.com and type the word frog
into the subject search, and then select Christian you will get two cute
frog skits, one is called When I Grow Up and is about a frog looking for
the job that will make God like him the most, and the other is called
Tadpole to Frog and it is about changing. Hope this helps!

5) Choir Appreciation Banquet
For a gift Idea: Starbucks bottled coffee drinks that you buy at the
grocery store for about $1.00 each.
Put a ribbon around the neck of the bottle and a little note that says
"Thanks a Latte"! These can be set
at each place setting.

6) Joseph Ideas?
i'm looking for an idea for a craft to go with the Bible story Joseph
and i was wondering if there was anyone that had any ideas.

7) Frog Puppets
Pastor Tom, Any puppet can be made from a child's stuffed
puppet - just remove some of the stuffing from the body and
put your hand in the "head" area. There are also some
"Kermit the Frog" puppets out there (we have one from my
kids' childhood days). Stuffed toys or old puppets could possibly be found
in a thrift shop. You could also make a frog from a
paper plate and make a stick puppet out of it. Could use
any puppet script - have the frog be the one with the
"attitude problem" or a particular behavior or sin and the
kids could respond to that - OR - the puppeteer could talk
with the frog. "One Way Street" has LOTS and LOTS of
puppet scripts, tapes/cds and puppets for sale - great

8) New Teacher?
I have been the teachers helper with the 2-3 year old class during church
time. The teacher has taken another group and won't be with us now which
leaves me in charge. We use Scripture Press as our criculum but I would
like songs or activities that will enhance this with the children. I
don't really feel like a teacher but feel more comfortable as the helper.

9) Three Wise Men and a Baby?

Our children's ministry is looking for Three Wise Men and a Baby
soundtrack. Our church performed the play many years ago, and have all
the books etc, but are in need of the soundtrack. We would be willing to
purchase the soundtrack and books as a kit. We are in need of the
soundtrack ASAP as we have already begun practicing with the faith that we
will find the soundtrack in the perfect timing. Thank you.

10) Need Help
I don't see that you have many options. You are dealing with confidential
medical information that, by the sounds of your letter, wasn't shared to
you from the girl but relayed to you by the other leader. If you want to
continue as a trusted confidant to your kids, you need to keep that trust
built through your group. If you tell her parents, you are not only
relaying confidential medical information, you are breaking that trust
with the youth.
If you want to tell the parents because you are worried about notification
of anyone else that may have been infected, the clinic has measures to
take care of that. If you want to tell the parents because you feel
guilty for knowing something they don't and you are uncomfortable with
that, then tough luck, it is not your place to tell them. You can
encourage the girl to talk to her parents, but the information needs to
come from her, not you.
As youth leaders we strive to build trust and are often thrilled when a
youth trusts us enough to ask us for help, but when we put ourselves in
that position, we need to also be prepared to deal with what we might
hear. Your other leader took her to the clinic and got her treated, the
clinic will take care of any other mandatory reporting. The youth is safe
from any immediate danger and you have no reason to believe that anyone
around her is in immediate danger. You have done your job, now just be
there for her -- and remember God is there for you too, talk to him.

11) Need Help
>I need some help. I am stuck in between my role as a youth leader and my
>heart as a mother.
Wow - what a challenging situation. My heart is torn right now with
anxiety. However, I believe that God has chosen you to be a youth leader.
He knows that you have what it takes to handle this responsibility. That
being said, I think you need to keep this "in your heart" and NOT say
anything. Yes, it's difficult, but, that's part of our role. Just keep
in mind that at least the girl went to someone for help - whether it be
because it was her cousin or a youth leader - and got/is getting the
physical care she needs. It sounds like she needs to believe she can
confide in the youth leader(s) who know her situation. I keep thinking
that if this were my daughter at least she felt she could confide in
someone - you can't break her trust.
I have a couple of questions:
a. You don't mention if she is in your "group/class". How did you come to
find out about this? Does this girl know that you know? If so, she is
expecting you to maintain her trust. If not, then did the person inform
you for your opinion, or is this "story/gossip" going around your church?
If it is "gossip" then her parents WILL find out.
b. If you do mention it to her parents - what will that accomplish? Is it
because YOU think she "doesn't get it"? And is the "doesn't get it" about
the physical harm - or the emotional/spiritual harm to herself? Yes, God
can heal her, however, she must be "truly sorry" for her "sin" AND try to
not commit the same sin again. This is between her and God -
unfortunately, we CAN'T make her stop.
Are you worried what her parents may say/feel if they find out you knew
and didn't tell them? Again, they should be grateful that their daughter
sought help from competent, compassionate people AND these people were
willing to help her.
c. You mention that if this were a pregnancy "which at this point we could
have handled". What does that mean? That you would have HAD to inform
her parents? Then they would know that she was sexually active?
This is just my opinion. And the questions were just running through my
mind while I was trying to formulate an answer.
