1) Giving Banks

An idea for giving banks. Use empty milk containers. I get them from school. Just the right size! Make them look like little churches, houses, decorate with stickers , be creative!! Tweety from Pa

2) Learning N.T. books?

Does anyone remember the saying: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, hold the horse while I get on? My Moms only remembers that much. I never heard it so I can't be sure it would even be appropriate for 5th and 6th grade. Jeanne

3) Teachers' Appreciation

> Need your help in planning a "Teachers' Appreciation" for all
> teachers at Youth Church.

Greetings Ahreita,
A couple of ideas we have used for Teacher's Appreciation: We did a video of adults/kids anyone who was associated with Sunday School and ask them to share interesting "stuff"...like what Sunday School meant to them, a teacher story, anything they wished to share in the area of thanks for their teacher.

We try to give all of our staff a "treat" each month in the way of a candy bar or something similiar with note attached. This month we are giving each a bag of Cracker Jacks with the message "Thanks, you are a Cracker Jack of a teacher". We have used peanuts with the message "We are just nuts about our volunteers". You are limited by your own creativity only. Also there is a book put out that has sayings about almost any candy bar made. The title is TREAT 'EM RIGHT! by Susan Cutshall.

We have order pens with Children's Ministry and the name of the church on them at a very reasonable price. These are used throughout the year as handouts. We also last year print up notepads for all of our staff with their names on them. This we did "in house" and made sure they were personalized.

Hope this helps!

4)
Giving Craft

Dear Sarah,
You could use a shoe box for each child by adding dividers made from poster board to divide each box into 3 sections. If you call a local shoe store ahead of time they are often willing to collect empty shoe boxes for you. I just collected 25 from a Payless Shoe Store and it took them 2 days to get them for me. You could put slits in the lids and the kids could decorate them in class. They might have to paint or cover the lids in 3 different colors to help them remember which part of the box is used for which money. I hope this helps!

5)
Christmas Nail?

I am writing to find out if anyone knows if there is a play about the Christmas nail. I have read your short play about the Candy Cane and think it is fantastic. But for some reason I think there is a play about the Christmas nail. I love your newsletter and enjoy getting it. It has gave me some wonderful ideas .
Yours in Christ, Kara-WV

6) Pastor Appreciation?

I TEACH A CLASS OF ABOUT 10 TO 15 CHILDREN FROM GRADES 1 TO 3. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAD ANY IDEAS OF A CRAFT GIFT OR A SKIT OR ANYTHING THAT WE CAN DO FOR PASTOR APPRECIATION DAY WHICH IN OUR CHURCH WILL BE CELERBRATED ON 10/22? ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE A RECIEVED BLESSING.THANK YOU DIANA

7) Giving Box

We have been doing a session on giving. There is a template out there that
when made up becomes a box. This is what we used to make money boxes so
all you need is the cardboard to make it up with and glue or tape. I have
a template but I don't have access to a scanner or the know how to attach
to this email but here goes. You draw a cross using squares. Have four squares going down and three squares across. Then draw tabs on the top and bottom squares and then draw tabs on the two side boxes of the cross. In the centre box you make a
slit for the money. Cut out into a cross shape. Then fold along lines of
the sqaures and you have a box. Hope you understand. We then decorated
the box with pictures of children as we are giving our money collected to
orphans in Africa.

8) Giving Bank

you probably already thought of this but what about using, paper towel rolls, or tissue rolls decorated and re-enforced or possibly using paper mashea. another thought to use soda bottles 16oz or 2 liters.

something i got from your craft idea section was the hug boxes with the
poem. i used it for grandparents day. what if you took three boxes the same size and hot glued them together and then decorated them in any way you see fit, i used white wrapping paper and let the kids color them and paste drawings on them, very in
expensive and if you go to your local wal-mart and speak with the
stockers of cosmetics you should be able to get enough boxes n a couple
of nites and most of there boxes are uniform in size, i work for
wal-mart thats why i say wal-mart but im sure any retail sore that does
a large amount of cosmetics would be able to assist you.

i don't know what kind of giving you are looking for but my class for
the next 2 months will be working on thanksgiving boxes we will be
decorating them in the harvest theme and the kids have already started
to bring food from home and the class is taking all its offerings to buy
food for the boxes and the kids will be distributing them among the
church and the community. the thing the kids like most is i will be
taking all of them to the store to do the shopping from there money's.

well i don't know if i helped but i want you to know i really enjoy your
site and letters they give me wonderful ideas and the kids and the
church just love them the crafts are bringing the youth closer to the
church and teaches them and us that we all love one another and that
each person is very important.

by the way my name is bette and i teach 6-9 year olds were a small but
great church, located in bithlo florida.
first baptist church of bithlo.....tTt GOD BLESS

9)
Glue

An answer to the Glue? They probably used a product calld peel'n'stick. You may buy this product at any Joanns Fabric store or even at the Michaels stores. If you are not able to find it by yourself you can ask anyone there and they will help you . Joelene from Jackson,Mi.
